Russia to boost cooperation with BRICS countries in fighting against cyber terrorism

On July 25-27, South Africa’s Johannesburg is hosting the BRICS summit

MOSCOW, July 25. /TASS/. Moscow is determined to boost cooperation with other BRICS member states (Brazil, India, China and South Africa) in the war against cyber terrorism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an article published in South Africa’s Ubuntu magazine ahead of the BRICS summit in Johannesburg.

According to Lavrov, "BRICS successfully promotes cooperation in international politics, in particular on such issues as terrorism, drug threat and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction."

"Russia pays particular attention to strengthening cooperation in international information security, including the development of a relevant intergovernmental agreement between the five countries. Our country aims to increase joint efforts with partners against the use of ICT for terrorist or other unlawful purposes," the Russian top diplomat pointed out.

On July 25-27, South Africa’s Johannesburg is hosting the BRICS summit, which will particularly involve Russian President Vladimir Putin. The summit’s preliminary events kicked off on Monday.
