SEVASTOPOL, March 29. /TASS/. Russian diesel-electric submarine Veliky Novgorod has entered Sevastopol for the first time after forming part of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, the fleet’s press service informed reporters on Friday. Earlier, the vessel was conducting maneuvers in the Mediterranean Sea.
"Today, a solemn arrival ceremony of the Veliky Novgorod submarine has taken place in Sevastopol. <…> This is the first arrival of the submarine to the hero city of Sevastopol after its inclusion in the Black Sea Fleet," the message by the press service informed, adding that during the maneuvers in the Mediterranean Sea, the submarine had hit several terrorist targets on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The Veliky Novgorod is the fifth in the group of six submarines of project 636.3 (Varshavyanka) built for the Black Sea Fleet.
