Russia introduces new domestically-produced protective helmets for military pilots

Russia has created new light helmets made of Kevlar for military pilots

MOSCOW, July 9. /TASS/. Russia’s Zvezda Research and Production Enterprise has created new light helmets made of Kevlar for military pilots, Zvezda CEO Sergei Pozdnyakov told TASS on Monday.

"We are making new helmets, an oxygen mask and an oxygen supply system. These are prototypes but they are already at the stage of flight evaluation," he said.

The new helmets are lighter and made of domestic Kevlar, the Zvezda chief executive said.

"This helmet protects the pilot from fragmentation when the canopy is broken. Of course, it won’t protect against the bullet," the chief executive said.

The new helmet can be used on all types of fighter aircraft.
