SAINT PETERSBURG, June 27. /ITAR-TASS reporters German Solomatin, Yekaterina Kalinina /. Iran plans to produce 20 thousand megawatt of energy on its future nuclear power plants, as was announced today in a speech of Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Fereydoon Abbasi Davani at the plenary session of the III International Conference of the IAEA.
According to him, "the development of nuclear energy in the country will follow two paths: through treaties and agreements on the construction of new nuclear power units with the leading manufacturers of the corresponding equipment in the world and through the establishment of enterprises for the production of equipment for nuclear power plants by local producers.” “We will implement these two options,” he said.
The head of the Iranian delegation also said that “Russia is our partner for the correction of errors of Bushehr and is preparing to provide us with an already built and ready-to-use object.” He also added that Iran “will soon stand in line with countries that already have operating nuclear power plants.”
Abbasi Davani noted that “the participation of the Iranian delegation to the IAEA conference in St. Petersburg carries a message about Iran's intention to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.”
