All Zenit fans detained in Khimki released, back to St Petersburg

The police detained 92 people when suppressing the hooliganism actions

MOSCOW, November 18 (Itar-Tass) —— All 92 fans, who were detained in Khimki after the flare incident during a Russian Premier League match between Dynamo Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg were released and returned to St. Petersburg, the press service of the Moscow regional police told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

The match between Dynamo Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg was interrupted at the Arena stadium in the Moscow regional town Khimki on Saturday, after the flare was hurled at the Dynamo goalkeeper. The goalkeeper got a cornea burn, he will need two weeks for the full recovery.

“The police detained 92 people when suppressing the hooliganism actions. Ten fans, who were in the group located most closely to the wounded goalkeeper, passed dactyloscopic tests and were photographed. Administrative protocols were filed against several detainees, preventive talks were made with other detainees, after that all of them were released,” the press service reported.

All Zenit fans escorted with the police went to the Leningrad Region, then local law enforcers were escorting them.

The investigation, which should find the offender, who hurled the flare at the goalkeeper, continues within the criminal case for hooliganism. The records from the video monitoring cameras are being examined, other active hooligans are being identified, the press service reported.

Several groups of Zenit fans were also detained on Saturday on the way to Khimki, the press service added. The bus, which was carrying 15 drunken fans, was stopped in the city Klin. They were convoyed back to St. Petersburg.
