BECICI /Montenegro/, September 11 (Itar-Tass) —— Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who has been applying for an early release, should be granted the right, Deputy Speaker of Russia’s State Duma Lubov Sliska said on Sunday.
“If the law allows doing what is required and necessary, it should be done,” she said.
Sliska commented on her statement, where earlier she had criticised the decision of Velsk’s Regional Court to turn down Platon Lebedev’s application.
“I said so as a lawyer, because loss of clothes or slippers or any other foolish remarks cannot be a reason to turn down a parole,” she said. “We have a wide range of gaps in the criminal legislation and procedure, so should they want to try, they could have found other grounds, more solid ones.”
“It is disgusting that the law enforcement system does not have enough qualified specialists,” she added.
Lubov Sliska participates in the Fifth jubilee Russian National Bank Festival and Forum, called Economy of XXI century Russia: Stimulating and Deterrent Factors of the Country’s Banking.
