Russian government says flow of refugees from Ukraine eases
According to the Federal Migration Service the number of forced Ukrainian migrants in Russia currently stands at 850,000
MOSCOW, December 31. /TASS/. The Russian government says the flow of refugees from Ukraine is easing and for this reason the refugee accommodation quotas distributed among Russian regions will be reduced.
As the influx of Ukrainian citizens and persons without citizenship permanently resident in Ukraine has eased, the government introduced amendments to the July resolution regarding the accommodation of refugees by individual constituent territories of Russia.
“The number of persons that each region is obliged to host during one month has been reduced from 20% to 10% of the overall number of those seeking such accommodation,” the government said in a resolution published on its website.
According to the Federal Migration Service the number of forced Ukrainian migrants in Russia currently stands at 850,000.
“This is a problem situation, but we have been able to manage so far. More than 40,000 have already joined the compatriots resettlement program. They have moved together with their families,” FMS chief Konstantin Romodanovsky said. Under the program the migrants enjoy government assistance in selecting a place of residence, finding a job, and getting grants, fringe benefits and material support.
