DONETSK, July 09./ITAR-TASS/. The government of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic had applied to the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and Abkhazia for diplomatic recognition, the Donetsk Republic's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

The official address was signed by Prime Minister Alexander Borodai, First Vice-Premier Andrei Purgin and Supreme Council Chairman Denis Pushilin.

"A state coup d’tat inspired by Western special services was carried out in Ukraine in February 2014. A military junta came into power and formed an illegitimate government of representatives from ultra nationalist forces professing fascism ideology. The new Ukrainian authorities have declared a war for elimination of the country's Russian-speaking population," the document reads.

Earlier, South Ossetia recognized independence of the Donetsk People’s Republic. The Supreme Council (parliament) of the Donetsk People’s Republic applied to the leaders of South Ossetia with a request to recognize the republic’s independence, as they did in respect of the Luhansk People’s Republic.
