South Ossetia recognizes independence of Donetsk People’s Republic
The South Ossetian president entrusted the republic’s foreign ministry to establish diplomatic relations with Donetsk
TSKHINVAL, June 27. /ITAR-TASS/. South Ossetia has recognized independence of the Donetsk People’s Republic, South Ossetia’s President Leonid Tibilov told ITAR-TASS on Friday.
The Supreme Council (parliament) of the Donetsk People’s Republic applied to the leaders of South Ossetia with a request to recognize the republic’s independence, as they did in respect of the Luhansk People’s Republic. On Friday, South Ossetia’s Security Council considered this request and recognized the Donetsk People’s Republic.
“I believe the recognition of the Donetsk republic is the right step,” Tibilov told ITAR-TASS. “South Ossetia’s people support and hail the decision to recognize Donetsk and Luhansk.”
