KIEV, April 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Law enforcement officers in Donetsk, a city in eastern Ukraine, are refusing to take part in a security operation against local protesters seeking the country's federalization, the head of the main command center of Ukraine’s armed forces, Major General Alexander Rozmaznin, told a news briefing on Tuesday.

“We don’t feel cooperation from police in the Donetsk region. I am not authorized to comment on that, but the fact remains. Our units don’t get assistance in certain areas,” local media quote him as saying.

Early in April, leaders of the Alfa special police force refused to obey the orders of Kiev authorities to storm administrative buildings in Donetsk. “We will work strictly within the framework of law. Our units were set up for hostage recovery and the fight against terrorism,” one of the leaders said then.
