Alfa anti-riot police refuses to storm protesters-occupied buildings in Eastern Ukraine
The protesters continue holding the regional administration building in Donetsk and the building of Ukraine’s Security Service in Luhansk
KIEV, April 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Leaders of the Ukrainian anti-riot police unit Alfa have refused to obey the orders of the interim authorities in Kiev to storm the administrative buildings in the east Ukrainian cities of Donetsk and Luhansk, the local media reported on Friday.
“We are going to act in strict compliance with the law. Our unit has been set up to release hostages and fight terrorism,” one of the Alfa leaders said.
The Alfa officers made the decision at a law enforcement meeting in Donetsk and Luhansk in response to an order from Ukraine’s parliament-appointed First Vice-Premier Vitaliy Yaryoma and Andriy Parubiy, the acting secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, to storm the administrative buildings occupied by the protesters.
Meanwhile, the protesters continue holding the regional administration building in Donetsk and the building of Ukraine’s Security Service in Luhansk.
