Europe is under censorship and lacks unbiased info on Ukrainian conflict — Orban
The reason behind that is the ban on broadcasting of Russian media in the EU, says Hungarian Prime Minister
BUDAPEST, February 5. /TASS/. Europeans are treated with one-sided information about the conflict in Ukraine because they are unable to hear Russia's stance due to the ban on broadcasting of Russian media on their territories, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said.
"Russian media are not allowed to roll out their information on the territory of the European Union, while Ukrainian media are allowed," Orban said.
"This is why, we are unable to figure out Russia's stance" regarding the special military operation, Orban said at a public meeting organized by the Mandiner magazine.
He noted that "it's not even a matter of who is right and who is to blame." In any case, people have the right to know the positions of both sides of the conflict, but they cannot do so because "Brussels has imposed censorship," Orban explained, adding that now "this is an everyday reality."
The prime minister believes that this situation allows EU leaders to mislead their citizens and make dangerous decisions, such as the intention to send Western troops to Ukraine. In his opinion, such steps pose the threat of a direct military clash with Russia.
"We must do everything possible to prevent the Russian-Ukrainian war from escalating into a regional, European or world war," Orban said.
