BEIRUT, October 6. /TASS/. Massive fires have broken out on the southern outskirts of the Lebanese capital of Beirut in areas that were bombed by the Israeli Air Force. As a TASS correspondent reported, Israeli Air Force fighter jets carried out at least 16 targeted strikes on underground facilities and warehouses of the Shiite organization Hezbollah on the southern outskirts of the city.

A series of powerful explosions occurred in the city during the night hours.

A source in the local civil defense service reported that weapons and explosives depots were hit in several places. In particular, a gasoline depot belonging to Shiite units on the highway leading to Rafik Hariri Airport was destroyed. Firefighters are fighting the flames, which could spread to neighboring buildings. The Israeli Air Force aircraft is in the skies above the capital and continues to attack ground targets.
