On October 31, Pentagon Press Secretary Patrick Ryder said there had been a total of 27 attacks on US bases in the region since October 17: 16 in Iraq and 11 in Syria. Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin demanded an end to strikes on the US forces in the Middle East, carried out, in his view, with Iranian support.
