MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. A closed military zone will be created in the area controlled by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF)’s Gaza Division, whose zone of responsibility includes the Gaza Strip and adjacent territories, the IDF press service said.

"The entire zone of responsibility of the Gaza Division has now been declared a closed military zone," the IDF said in a statement on the X social network (previously known as Twitter).

"It is prohibited to enter the closed military zone," the Israeli military said, asking the population "to show vigilance and not to enter this area."

The Gaza Division, also known as the 143rd Territorial Division, was created after the Six-Day War in 1967 to protect Jewish settlers in the Gaza Strip.

Early on Saturday morning, rocket attacks were launched at Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. Simultaneously, groups of militants infiltrated the territory of Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced they were launching Operation 'Iron Swords' in retaliation for the attack, coming from the Palestinian exclave. According to latest reports, the rocket attacks left at least 300 Israelis dead and over 1,500 injured.

Under these circumstances, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has approved a call-up of reservists and declared the state of ‘special situation’ within a range of 80 kilometers from the Gaza border. The state of emergency was expanded over the entire territory of Israel late on Saturday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country was "at war" and was determined to win it. "The enemy will pay an unprecedented price," he added.
