MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin did not send a telegram to Rishi Sunak congratulating him with his election to UK Prime Minister’s office, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Wednesday.
"The UK is currently in the category of unfriendly states so no, such telegram was not sent," the spokesman said, answering a question.
Sunak, who served as the Chancellor of the Exchequer in Boris Johnson’s government, was announced a new Conservative leader Monday, and assumed the Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday.
