Certain countries destructively influence political processes in Syria, says Assad
"Certain states have imposed sanctions against the Syrian people, which may be classified and positioned as antihuman, anti-state, illegitimate," the Syrian President pointed out
MOSCOW, September 14. /TASS/. Certain countries destructively influence the possibility of holding political processes in Syria, President Bashar Assad said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The information about the talks held in the Kremlin on Monday was released on the Russian President’s website on Tuesday.
Particularly, the political events held in Sochi and Nur-Sultan have helped normalize the life in Syria, Assad added.
"I would like to note that the political processes that we held, have been on hold for around three years. There are certain reasons for that, of course. There are certain states that destructively influence the possibility of holding political processes," Syrian President said.
Moreover, "certain states have imposed sanctions against the Syrian people, which may be classified and positioned as antihuman, anti-state, illegitimate," Assad said. That said, the political dialogue and other processes in Syria continue being established "amid the current conditions and environment," he noted.
The Russian and Syrian sides have not only achieved considerable results in freeing the occupied territories captured by militants, in eliminating terrorism, but have facilitated the return of refugees as well, the Syrian leader emphasized.
