Death toll in New Zealand mosque shootings rises to 50
New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush confirmed that the number of injured in the attack was also 50
MOSCOW, March 16. /TASS/. /TASS/. The death toll in Christchurch mosque shootings has risen to 50, New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush said on Sunday at a press conference broadcast by CNN.
"It is with sadness that I advise that number of people who died in this event has now risen to 50," Bush said. "As of last night we were able to take all of the victims from both of those scenes. In doing so we were able to locate a further victim," he added.
Bush confirmed that the number of injured in the attack was also 50. Earlier reports said that 49 people were killed in the attack.
On March 15 armed persons broke into two mosques in New Zealand's Christchurch and opened fire at people inside. Hundreds of people were in the mosques at that time. Two men and one woman were detained after the attack.
