Source says Hvorostovsky’s debut at Bolshoi canceled due to health issues
All other performers, for whom it will be the first appearance on Bolshoi stage as well will feature in 'Don Carlos' as planned
MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. Dmitry Hvorostovsky’s debut at the Moscow Bolshoi in Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlos, scheduled for December 7 and 10, has been canceled due to the singer’s illness, a source in the vocalist’s entourage familiar with the situation has told TASS.
"Regrettably, Hvorostovsky’s long-awaited performance on the Bolshoi’s stage will not take place due to the singer’s illness," the source said.
All other performers, for whom it will be the first appearance in a Bolshoi stage production, too, will feature in Don Carlos both on December 7 and 10 as planned: Hiba Gerzmava as Elisabeth de Valois, Yekaterina Gubanova as Princess Eboli and Ildar Abdrazakov as Philippe II, King of Spain. Hvorostovsky was expected to sing the role of Don Carlos.
