China’s mainland population grows to 1.41 billion in 2020
According to the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics, the country’s population was reported to stand at 1.40005 in 2019
BEIJING, May 11. /TASS/. China’s mainland population hit the figure of 1.41178 billion in 2020, which saw an annual increase of 0.83%, the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics announced in a statement on Tuesday citing data from its 7th national population census.
The country’s population was reported to stand at 1.40005 in 2019.
According to the statement, which relies on the country’s once-a-decade official census, China’s mainland population is currently estimated at 1.41178 billion and it is up by 72.06 million people (5.38%), if compared to the year of 2010.
The statistics show that China’s population currently boasts some 723.34 million male and 688.44 million female residents. About 63.35% of the country’s population is made up of people of the age of between 15 and 59 years, while 18.7% are of the age of over 60 years.
The share of the country’s residents under the age of 14 years stands at about 17.95% out of the reported population’s figure, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
