GORKI, July 15. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has instructed to provide aid to the Moscow authorities to coping with the consequences of the metro incident.

“It is necessary to render medical and other assistance to Moscow to coping with the consequences of the tragedy,” Medvedev said on Tuesday.

“The tragedy has happened in the Moscow metro. People have died and over 100 people have been hospitalized,” he said.

“On behalf of the Russian government I'd like to express condolences to the next-of-kin,” he said.

“I’ve talked with the government members and I’ve instructed my deputy Olga Golodets to watch the situation,” Medvedev said.

The death toll in the metro crash reached 12 people,  Russia's Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov said. A driver of a crashed metro train died, an informed source in Moscow metro told ITAR-TASS on Tuesday.

Five people were found dead in Moscow metro train cars damaged in the accident, but their bodies have nor been recovered yet, a source in regional law enforcement agencies told ITAR-TASS.

One hundred-and-six people have been hospitalized, while 50 of them are in a serious condition. As many as 149 people sought medical aid, Deputy Mayor Pyotr Biryukov said.
