Around 21.5 mln Russians have already been vaccinated against coronavirus
SOCHI, May 10. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that the situation with the spread of coronavirus in Russia remains stable, he told reporters on Monday.
"The situation in the country, according to experts, remains stable," Putin said. He noted that the figures are well known. According to the statistics cited by him, around 8,000 cases are detected every day.
Putin called for continuing active vaccination and testing of the population for coronavirus. "We need to continue to actively test and vaccinate," he said, stressing that these are two very important components in order to overcome the pandemic and its consequences in the future.
Meanwhile, around 21.5 mln Russians have already been vaccinated against coronavirus, Putin said. "We have 21.5 mln people who have been already vaccinated. The country’s results are very good," he said.
Currently, four vaccines have been registered in Russia: Sputnik V and Sputnik Light from the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, EpiVacCorona by the Vector State Scientific Center of Virology and Biotechnology, and CoviVac vaccine by the Chumakov Federal Scientific Center. Vaccines Sputnik V, EpiVacCorona, and CoviVac are two-component, Sputnik Light is a one-component vaccine.
21.5 mln Russians vaccinated
Around 21.5 mln Russians have already been vaccinated against coronavirus, Putin said.
"We have 21.5 mln people who have been already vaccinated. The country’s results are very good," he said.
Putin added that he had good indicators for antibodies to coronavirus after vaccination. "On May 9, they took tests [for antibodies], and the result is positive," he said. He received the first component of the vaccine on March 23, the second - on April 14. Neither he nor his representatives disclosed the exact vaccine Putin took, explaining that all three Russian vaccines are effective and safe. Putin said he felt fine after the vaccination.
