Kremlin reports Putin to meet leaders of China, Japan, Vietnam, Philippines, Peru in Lima
The Kremlin spokesman says Putin-Obama meeting in Lima is not agreed
SOCHI, November 18. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to hold talks with the leaders of China, Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines and Peru on November 19 on the sidelines of the APEC summit due to open in Peru’s capital of Lima, which Putin will attend, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
"(Putin’s) bilateral meetings have been arranged for tomorrow (Saturday), in particular a talk with Vietnam’s president, a talk with the Philippines’ president, a talk with Peru’s president, a meeting with members of the APEC (Business) Advisory Council and also talks with China’s president and Japan’s prime minister," Peskov said, adding a gala reception on behalf of Peru’s president would be held for APEC summit’s participants on Saturday evening.
Putin-Obama meeting
Peskov went on to say that the administrations of the Russian and US presidents did not arrange a separate meeting of Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama. However, the two leaders will be able to talk with each other in Peru.
"The two presidents’ administrations did not agree a separate conversation," Peskov said. "However, one can assume that President Putin and President Obama will meet on the sidelines of the forum one way or another and will have an opportunity to talk with each other."
The Kremlin spokesman declined to specify the possible topics of the conversation, adding that the two leaders may discuss "the most pressing issues."
