Russian diplomat: Western media should stop being ‘propagandist and manipulated’
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman calls Western media reports on alleged guilt of Russian military aircraft in deaths of civilians and children in Syria "pure propaganda"
MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday that Western media should avoid "propaganda and manipulation" over developments in Syria.
"Everything that takes place [in Western media reports on Syria developments] is the formation of perception, which is more important than reality and the reality is the fight against the Islamic State [IS]," Zakharova said.
"Everything that we see is the formation of this exact perception," she said. "But, unfortunately, this perception may turn into a new reality, which people would believe in. It [the new reality] will be different from the currently existing one and will be of a threat to all of us."
Speaking about Western media reports about alleged guilt of Russian military aircraft in deaths of civilians and children in Syria, Zakharova said "this is the pure propaganda" she was talking about.
"It is necessary to stop being propagandist and being manipulated," she said. "You [Western media] turn perception into reality."
