Lavrov to hold talks with his Turkish counterpart on sidelines of Antalya forum

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum on April 12, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"On April 12, top Russian diplomat Sergey Lavrov will participate in the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum at the invitation of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan," the statement said. "During the scheduled meeting between Sergey Lavrov and Hakan Fidan, a wide range of pressing regional and international issues will be discussed," the ministry added.
It noted that during the talks the ministers will discuss bilateral trade and economic relations, cooperation in energy, finance and other spheres. "Priority will be placed on preserving positive trade dynamics under the negative impact of Western sanctions on Russian-Turkish cooperation," the Foreign Ministry said. "Separately, the work on strategic projects such as the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant and the operation of the Blue Stream and TurkStream gas pipelines will be discussed," the ministry added.
In addition, the sides are expected to discuss the latest developments in the zone of Israeli-Palestinian hostilities and in the Middle East as a whole. "Russia pays special attention to interaction with Turkey on Syria, given Ankara's traditionally deep involvement in Syrian affairs. Russia consistently supports the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of this country and is interested in joint work to stabilize the situation in Syria, taking into account the new realities," the ministry said.
Russian diplomats added that the ministers are expected to discuss in detail the issues of deepening cooperation in the Transcaucasus region, unblocking transport and communication links, as well as post-conflict reconstruction.
The Russian Foreign Ministry informed that within the framework of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Lavrov is expected to deliver a speech reviewing Russia's main approaches to topical issues of the current global and regional agenda. "Contacts with foreign colleagues are expected to discuss issues of mutual interest," the Foreign Ministry added.
