MOSCOW, December 9. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has thanked his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for help in evacuation of Russian citizens from the Gaza Strip in a telephone conversation.

"The President of Russia thanked Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for his assistance in evacuating Russian citizens and members of their families, as well as delivering humanitarian aid from Russia to the Gaza Strip," according to a statement released by the Kremlin’s press service.

The Egyptian presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said earlier that Putin and al-Sisi had agreed on continued efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Palestinian sector among other things. They also noted the importance of coordinated international efforts on reaching fair and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian problem, he added.
