Medvedev views Ukrainian conflict as issue of global scale
The Deputy Head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation noted that in this situation "the United States is earning, Europe is losing, the whole world is in suspense"
MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/. The conflict in Ukraine is an issue of global scale, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with TASS and RT.
"The US is making money [on the conflict in Ukraine], Europe is losing and the entire world is in tension. If we look at the situation from this perspective, we will see that it to a certain extent turns this conflict into an issue of global scale, a conflict of the worlds and an existential conflict for the entire planet as well, which is what many political scientists and politicians have been talking about," Medvedev pointed out.
The politician emphasized that while Russia viewed the conflict in Ukraine as an existential one, the West "thinks differently." According to Medvedev, the Westerners "like to add fuel to others’ fire, especially the Americans," as they believe that the fire won’t reach North America and they don’t have to fear economic difficulties.
The Russian Security Council deputy chairman believes that "the Europeans don’t get the global scale of the Ukrainian crisis and the Americans are unwilling to take it into account. "They think that they will be able to control the conflict by using other sources. This proxy war is their way to use others to pull chestnuts out of the fire; they are using the Ukrainian in this case. They are sending them to the front, they pay no attention to the troop losses and expenses required to achieve their goals. That’s why I think that this is an issue of global scale after all," Medvedev concluded.
