YEREVAN, March 24. /TASS/. The armed man who broke into a police station in Yerevan has been detained by Armenia’s special police force, a TASS correspondent reported from the site.
The TASS correspondent reported earlier that special police force troops had entered the building of the police station through the back door.
Armenia’s Interior Ministry Spokesman Narek Sarkisyan has confirmed that the man was detained. According to the spokesman, no one was hurt during the detention.
The press service of the Armenian interior ministry reported earlier in the day that three armed men broke into a police station in Yerevan. Two of them got wounded in the explosion of heir own grenade. One stayed inside. The two wounded men were taken to a medical center. According to the health ministry’s press service, they are in condition of moderate gravity, with their legs injured.
The third man was holding a hand grenade with its pin pulled out. Armenian police chief Aram Hovhannisyan arrived at the site and tried to talk the attacker into surrendering for about 90 minutes. Later, the building was stormed by a special police force.
