Four gunmen killed in Grozny special operation
During the shootout, three law enforcement officers were killed
MOSCOW, October 13. /TASS/. Four gunmen, who opened fire at law enforcement officers, were killed in Chechnya’s capital of Grozny, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee’s press center told TASS on Tuesday.
"After a proposal of the law enforcement personnel to surrender, the gunmen opened fire from automatic weapons. During a shootout, four gunmen were neutralized," the NAC said.
"Unfortunately, casualties among the law enforcement personnel were not prevented. During the shootout, three law enforcement officers were killed," a NAC spokesman said.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee’s crisis center in Chechnya earlier reported that a counter-terrorism operation was launched in Grozny at 07:40 am Moscow Time. An unknown armed gang was supposedly spotted there.
The special operation, which was conducted in the Oktyabrsky district, is over now. "The house where the gunmen had been blocked, is on fire," a source in the law enforcement agencies told TASS.
