Gagauzia and Russia discuss discounts on gas, exports to Russia — head of republic

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Russia and Gagauzia, which is autonomous territorial unit of Moldova, are in discussing discounts on gas for residents of the autonomy, as well as benefits for exporters of goods to Russia, head of the Gagauz autonomous republic of Moldova, Evgenia Gutsul, wrote on her Telegram channel.
"In March, we went to Russia with three main requests. First, we asked the Russian leadership to give benefits to our Gagauz exporters for the supply of goods to Russia. Second, to provide residents of our autonomy with a discount on gas. Third, to grant access to the Russian payment infrastructure," she said after signing an agreement with Promsvyazbank (PSB) on cooperation in banking and finance sector.
"Intensive and continuous work is underway on all three points, and I am pleased to announce the first results," Gutsul added.
Earlier on Tuesday, the head of Gagauzia announced that the PSB would open accounts for public sector employees and pensioners of the autonomy as part of humanitarian support.
According to her, about 25,000 people will be able to use the Russian Mir payment system - 20,000 of them are pensioners, 5,000 are state employees.
Gutsul visited Russia in March and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.
