First power unit of BelNPP reaches capacity of 400 MW - Energy Ministry

MINSK, November 7. /TASS/. The first power unit of the Belarusian NPP has reached a capacity of 400 MW, the country's energy ministry reported on Friday.
The ceremony to increase the power unit's capacity was held with the participation of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. According to Lukashenko, with the commissioning of this nuclear power plant, Belarus joins the world club of states using atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
Electricity from the nuclear power plant is supplied to all regions of the country. The reactor of the first power unit operates at 40% capacity, the ministry said. The Ministry of Energy said that, in accordance with the test programs, the power unit's capacity will be gradually increased to the design capacity of 1,190 MW, recalling that the commissioning of the first power unit is planned in the Q1 2021.
