Lavrov says implementing Nord Stream 2 project now ‘a matter of honor’ for Germany
On June 4, a bill to expand sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project was presented to the US Congress for consideration
MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. Implementing the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project on the heels of Washington’s actions has now become “a matter of honor” for Germany, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at Thursday’s press conference.
"I think the time has now come for us to calm down on this topic, We see how the United States attempts daily to publicly humiliate the European Union, especially Germany, and how the United States from the mouths of their official spokespersons demand Germany recognize its luck and the need to strengthen its energy security, by which the United States means the abandonment of Nord Stream 2 and a switch to substantially more expensive American liquefied natural gas. I believe - this is my personal opinion - this issue has now become a matter of honor for Germany, honor in all senses, and in all dimensions," Lavrov stressed.
On June 4, a bill to expand sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project was presented to the US Congress for consideration. Germany condemned Washington’s plans to widen the sanctions against the project.
