MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Russia’s Battlegroup Center continues improving its frontline positions and inflicted roughly 460 casualties on enemy troops in its area of responsibility over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported in a statement on Sunday.

"Battlegroup Center units continued advancing deep into the enemy’s defenses. They inflicted damage on manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 24th, 150th, 151th mechanized brigades, 95th air assault brigade, 109th and 117th territorial defense brigades as well as 14th and 15th National Guard brigades near the settlements of Alexandro-Kalinovo, Nelepovka, Druzhba, Novoolenovka, Novoekonomicheskoye, Dzerzhinsk, Tsukurino and Selidovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic [DPR]," the statement reads.

"They repulsed nine counterattacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian army’s 42nd, 100th mechanized, 59th motorized infantry, 68th jaeger, 55th assault, 25th airborne brigades as well as of the 49th and 429th assault battalions," the ministry stated.

The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted up to 460 personnel, two pickup trucks, a 152mm Msta-B howitzer and a 152mm D-20 howitzer.

Kiev loses over 21,000 troops since incursion in Kursk area

The Ukrainian military has lost over 21,000 troops since its incursion in Russia’s borderline Kursk Region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday.

"Over the period of combat operations in the Kursk area, the enemy has lost over 21,000 personnel, 136 tanks, 66 infantry fighting vehicles, 98 armored personnel carriers, 885 armored combat vehicles, 584 motor vehicles and 171 artillery guns," the ministry said in a statement.

Battlegroup East

Russia’s Battlegroup East inflicted over 120 casualties on Ukrainian troops in its area of responsibility over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday.

"Battlegroup East units improved their forward edge positions and inflicted damage on manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 72nd mechanized, 58th motorized infantry, 21st National Guard brigade and the 48the Separate Assault battalion in areas near the settlements of Dobrovolye, Velikaya Novosyolka, Oktyabr and Zolotaya Niva in the Donetsk People’s Republic [DPR] as well as the settlement of Temirovka in the Zaporozhye Region," the statement reads adding that two counterattacks were repulsed by the Russian forces against Ukraine’s 110th, 116th and 118th territorial defense brigades."

The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted to over 120 personnel, nine motor vehicles, a 155mm M198 howitzer of US manufacture and a British-made 155mm FH70 howitzer.

Battlegroup North

Russia’s Battlegroup North inflicted roughly 50 casualties on Ukrainian troops in its area of responsibility in the Kharkov Region over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday.

"Battlegroup North units inflicted losses in the Liptsy and Volchansk directions on formations of the Ukrainian army’s 57th motorized infantry and 13th National Guard brigades in areas near the settlements of Volchansk, Liptsy, in the Kharkov Region," the ministry said in a statement.

The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted up to 50 personnel and two122mm D-30 howitzers," it specified.

Battlegroup Dnepr

Russia’s Battlegroup Dnepr inflicted roughly 60 casualties on Ukrainian troops, destroyed five enemy motor vehicles and a self-propelled artillery gun over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday.

"Battlegroup Dnepr units inflicted casualties on formations of the 65th mechanized brigade, 128th mountain assault brigade, 35th and 38th marine infantry brigades, 108th and 126th territorial defense brigades near the settlements of Malaya Tokmachka, Novoyakovlevka, Zherebyanki in the Zaporozhye Region as well as Lvovo and Tokarevka in the Kherson Region," the ministry stated.

"The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past day amounted to some 60 personnel, five motor vehicles and a 122mm Gvozdika motorized artillery system," the statement added.

In addition, Russian forces destroyed a counterbattery radar station, the ministry noted.

Battlegroup Sout

Russia’s Battlegroup South inflicted roughly 530 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed four enemy ammunition depots in its area of responsibility over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday.

Battlegroup South units "inflicted casualties on formations of the Ukrainian army’s 23th, 30th, 33rd and 54th mechanized brigades as well as on 143rd infantry brigade and 5th assault brigade jointly with the 1st National Guard brigade near the settlements of Stupochki, Seversk, Minkovka, Zaliznyanskoye and Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic."

"They [Battlegroup South] have also repulsed four counterattacks of the Ukrainian 56th motorized infantry brigade, 10th mountain assault brigade and 81st airmobile brigade.

The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted to 530 personnel, two Kozak armored combat vehicles, seven motor vehicles, a Polish-made 155mm Krab self-propelled artillery system, a French-made 155mm Caesar howitzer, a British-made 155mm FH70 howitzer, a 152mm Msta-B howitzer, two 122mm D-30 howitzers and two US-made 105mm M119 artillery guns.

In addition, Russian troops destroyed four ammunition depots of the Ukrainian army, the Russian Defense Ministry specified.

Battlegroup West

Russia’s Battlegroup West gained better ground, inflicted roughly 400 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed five tanks in its area of responsibility over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday.

"Battlegroup West units gained more advantageous positions and inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 3rd and 4th tank brigades, 14th, 30th, 44th 53rd and 63rd mechanized brigades near the settlements of Kupyansk, Petropavlovka, Shiikovka and Berestovoye in the Kharkov Region as well as the settlements of Grigorovka and Torskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said in a statement.

"They repelled three counterattacks of the Ukrainian army’s 28th and 116th assault mechanized brigades," according to the statement.

The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted up to 400 personnel, two combat armored vehicles, eight motor vehicles, a 155mm M198 howitzer of US manufacture, a 152mm D-20 howitzer, a 122mm Gvozdika motorized artillery system and two US-made 105mm M119 artillery guns, the ministry specified.

A Plastun and Kvertus electronic reconnaissance warfare stations, four counterbattery radar stations and five field ammunition depots of the Ukrainian army were destroyed as well, according to the ministry.

Russian air defenses down three HIMARS rockets, 68 Ukrainian UAVs over past day

Russian air defense forces shot down 68 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles and three rockets of US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Sunday.

"During the last 24-hour period, air defense capabilities shot down three rockets of the US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and 68 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said in a statement.
