Prometheus firmware tests for robotic use in armored vehicles underway
Technology enabling conversion of any armored vehicle or a tank into a remotely controlled robotic vehicle
MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. The Prometheus firmware suite enabling conversion of any armored vehicle or a tank into a remotely controlled robotic vehicle is undergoing tests, High Precision Weapons holding told TASS at the World Defense Show 2024.
"Development of the Prometheus firmware suite has been completed in full scope and the suite undergoes the complete cycle of tests at present," the company said.
Earlier reports said this firmware suite can convert any wheeled or tracked armored vehicle, an armored personnel carrier or a tank into a robotic machine.
The Prometheus firmware suite for robotic conversion of armored vehicles or tanks will provide an opportunity of remote steering when afloat, High Precision Weapons holding told TASS at the World Defense Show 2024.
“The Prometheus firmware suite can be installed in any existing serial specimen of materiel. For example, in the BMP-3 armored fighting vehicle. It enables robotizing functions of a driver and a gunner, keeps the ergonomics of standard seats of crewmembers and provides the opportunity of steering the vehicle either in manned or in remote control conditions,” the company said.
“Such a robotic machine with any combat module can carry motor rifle units, conduct combat operations and provide fire support for an assault party, including when afloat,” the holding added.
