DONETSK, June 13. /TASS/. Two Ukrainian crews of infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) surrendered to Russian troops near Avdeyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a spokesman for regional law enforcement agencies told TASS.
“A platoon commander of the [Ukrainian] 110th detached mechanized brigade got in touch with a Russian troop unit in the Avdeyevka area with a request to provide medical aid to his wounded soldiers due to the refusal of the brigade’s commanding staff to evacuate [them]. The Ukrainian commander requested during the talks to provide a safe passage because the remaining forces of his unit would surrender with all their weapons, including two remaining BMP-1s ([IFVs]. The operation was successful and the Ukrainian soldiers are now on the republic’s territory,” the spokesman said.
