Driver ploughing into people in Germany’s Munster commits suicide — police

BERLIN, April 7. /TASS/. The driver who ploughed a truck into an outdoor cafe in the western German city of Munster committed suicide, police spokesman Andreas Bode said on Saturday.

"The man shot himself. We cannot provide any personal information about him at the moment," he told reporters.

According to the latest reports, three people died in the incident. Police told TASS that 30 people had been injured, six of them were in serious condition.

Police have not designated the incident as a terrorist attack. "We don’t have information in this regard at the moment," a law enforcement source told TASS.

The Suddeutsche Zeitung daily said the driver was a 49-yearl-old German citizen with mental health problems.

Meanwhile, a police source told TASS that the situation in Munster was under control.

"There are many police officers and emergency workers at the site of the incident. The situation is generally under control," the source said.
