Several dead as vehicle ploughs into crowd in Germany’s Munster - police

As a result of the incident 30 people have been injured

BERLIN, April 7. /TASS/. Several people were killed and 30 injured after a vehicle ploughed into a crowd in the western German city of Munster on Saturday, a police spokeswoman told TASS.

"A small truck drove into a group of people. There are several dead but we cannot give the exact number. As many as 30 people have been injured, six of them are in serious condition, they are fighting for their lives," the spokeswoman said.

"The driver’s reasons are unclear," she added. According to FOCUS Online, the man committed suicide after the incident.

A large-scale police operation is underway in downtown Munster.

German Government Spokeswoman Ulrike Demmer has expressed condolences to the victims' families.

There is no information showing that the truck driver had any accomplices, a police spokeswoman told TASS when asked to comment on media reports saying search was underway for two suspects.

"There is no such information," the spokeswoman said.

The media also say that explosives were found in the truck. However, police sources have declined to confirm this information to TASS.
