Woman injures three, shoots herself at YouTube HQ in California

At least three people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds

NEW YORK, April 4. /TASS/. Three people were injured on Tuesday when a woman opened fire at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California, before turning the gun on herself.

The woman, whose identity is withheld, fired shots from a pistol in an outdoor dining area at approximately 12:40 local time (22:40 Moscow time) on Tuesday.

San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini told reporters that police arrived at the scene almost immediately to find employees leaving the building in panic. Some 1,700 people work at the YouTube HQ.

According to Barberini, three people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. The attacker’s dead body was also found nearby.

Brent Andrew, a spokesman for Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, said the hospital had received three patients - two women aged 32 and 27, and a 36-year-old man in critical condition.

Initial reports said four people were injured in the shooting, but it later turned out that this person sustained an ankle injury while trying to escape.

According to ABC, which cites own police sources, the shooting incident has no relation to terrorism and was most likely sparked by some kind of a conflict. The shooter, aged about 35-40 years is a resident of California and has no relation to YouTube. Police officials refused to officially comment on the report, citing investigation purposes.

Two law enforcement sources told ABC News authorities have preliminarily identified the suspect as Nasim Aghdam.

In line with the established procedure, the Russian Embassy in Washington has requested information on whether any of the injured were Russian citizens, spokesman Nikolai Lakhonin said.
