Over 230 tonnes of drugs seized in Russia in seven years

Every year, law enforcement agencies recorded over 200,000 crimes related to drug trafficking

MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. Russia’s law enforcement agencies have seized over 230 tonnes of drugs since 2011, Interior Ministry Vladimir Kolokoltsev told the Federation Council (upper house of parliament).

"Since the anti-drug strategy took effect in 2011, over 234 tonnes of banned substances have been seized," he said. "As many as 35,000 drug-related crimes committed by organized groups have been solved and more than 500 criminal groups have been exposed, many of which were transnational," the minister added.

Kolokoltsev also said that every year, law enforcement agencies recorded over 200,000 crimes related to drug trafficking.

The Russian president approved the 2020 state anti-drug policy strategy in 2010.
