The discussions will focus on the current security challenges in the OSCE region

VIENNA, March 28. /TASS/. The Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe [OSCE], Thomas Greminger, will have talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the 7th Moscow International Security Conference, a spokesperson for the OSCE headquarters told TASS.

"Secretary General will indeed attend the Conference," said Shiv Sharma, Media and Outreach Officer. "During his trip to Moscow the schedule is still being finalized but the meeting with Foreign Minister Lavrov is confirmed as is a meeting with members of the Russian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly."

"The discussions will focus on the current security challenges in the OSCE region," Sharma said.

The 7th Moscow International Security Conference will be held on April 4-5. The Russian Deputy Minister of Defense, Gen Alexander Fomin, said earlier the defense ministers of more than 30 countries had confirmed their intention to attend it.

The Defense Minister said at its official homepage the results of defeat of the Islamic State terrorist grouping in Syria and prospects for establishing peace in the region would be the main topics for discussion at the conference.

Other issues proposed for discussion are collaboration between the defense ministries of different countries and the phenomenon of soft power.
