Trump tweets about resignation of national security adviser

The US President thanked Herbert McMaster for his "outstanding job"

WASHINGTON, March 23. /TASS/. President of the United States Donald Trump wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday about resignation of national security adviser Herbert McMaster who will be replaced by John Bolton, a former US Ambassador to the UN.

"I am pleased to announce that, effective April 9, 2018, Ambassador John Bolton will be my new National Security Advisor. I am very thankful for the service of General H.R. McMaster who has done an outstanding job and will always remain my friend. There will be an official contact handover on April 9," Trump wrote.

Last week Trump announced a large-scale staff reshuffle, firing Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State and nominating CIA Director Mike Pompeo to replace him. At the same time, he nominated Gina Haspel to become the first female CIA chief. On the same day, Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Steven Goldstein was also sacked.
