Putin, Erdogan begin talks in Ankara

The meeting takes place at the Bestepe Palace, the residence of the Turkish leader since 2015

ANKARA, December 11./TASS/. The Russian and Turkish presidents, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, have started talks in the format of a working lunch. The meeting takes place at the Bestepe Palace, the residence of the Turkish leader since 2015.

The Turkish leader met his counterpart at the front entrance. After a short welcome ceremony, the leaders met tete-a-tete, after which the talks continued in an extended format.

The two leaders plan to exchange opinions on key international issues, including the situation in the Middle East and in Israel, discuss fight against the Islamic State (outlawed in Russia) in Syria, as well as the process of political settlement in that Arab country. Besides, top on the agenda are topical issues of bilateral cooperation, first of all joint projects in the energy sector.
