PARIS, April 6. /TASS/. French presidential candidate Francois Fillon has promised to make every effort to see that European sanctions against Russia will be lifted if elected.

"I will do my best to work for the lifting of European sanctions against Russia. I have already said this to [German Chancellor] Angela Merkel," the candidate of The Republicans told France Inter radio.

"I think these sanctions have yielded no results, besides they are ruining our agriculture. This is not a method I would use to convince Russia to change its position," said Fillon, who served as Prime Minister of France from 2007 to 2012.
