North Korea conducts failed missile launch — agency

The number of launched missiles and their type is unknown

TOKYO, March 22. /TASS/. North Korea has presumably conducted a missile launch from the outskirts of eastern coastal city of Wonsan, Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported citing government sources.

"South Korea and the US are aware of the missile launch and to their knowledge North Korea's missile was not successfully launched," South Korea's Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Neither the US nor South Korea have released information on what type of missile was fired, or why it failed.

Siutation on the Korean peninsula deteriorated early last year following a nuclear test and a satellite launch by Pyongyang.
