As possible areas for cooperation, Tommy Sheppard singled out trade, technology development and especially the renewable sources of energy

ABERDEEN, March 17. /TASS/. Independent Scotland will seek to cooperate with all countries including Russia, Tommy Sheppard, a British MP representing the Scottish National Party told TASS on Friday.

As possible areas for cooperation, he singled out trade, technology development and especially the renewable sources of energy.

He also said an independent Scotland would consider it a political priority to establish relations with European countries and parfticularly the ones located in the north of the continent.

Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland and the leader of the Scottish National Party said on Monday a new referendum on the region's independence should be held some time between autumn 2018 and spring 2019.

She said somewhat earlier Scottish government was frustrated with a hard Brexit option, under which Britain would have to pull out of the common European market. She made public a demand to give Scotland an opportunity to sign a separate agreement with the EU in the wake of a divorce from Britain.
