Yasinovataya comes under artillery shelling by Ukrainian troops — DPR

The situation along the line of contact in Donbass deteriorated dramatically in late January

DONETSK, February 16. /TASS/. The city of Yasinovataya in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) came under shelling by Ukrainian troops on Thursday evening, Eduard Basurin, a spokesman for the DPR operations command, reported.

"Ukrainian troops shelled Yasinovataya from artillery systems from 18:00 to 22:00 local time. Five 152mm caliber shells and seven 122mm caliber shells were fired at the republic’s territory," the Donetsk News Agency quoted him as saying.

The situation along the line of contact in Donbass deteriorated dramatically in late January. There are casualties among the civilian population due to the incessant shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces, many dwelling houses and infrastructure facilities have been damaged.

On February 15, the Contact Group on the settlement in eastern Ukraine demanded at a meeting in Minsk an end to hostilities in Donbass and withdrawal of all weapons and equipment along the entire contact line to storage sites by February 20.
