Turkey's security service detains dozens of foreigners over links to Islamic State

MOSCOW, November 25. /TASS/. Turkey's security service has detained 25 foreigners suspected of links to the Islamic State terrorist grouping, Milliyet newspaper said in a report at its homepage on Friday.

The report indicated that twelve of the detainees are citizens of Russia, two were Azerbaijanis and another two, Tajikistanis.

The people were detained during an operation the Istanbul department for combatting terrorism held in the cities of Gaziantep and Sanliuorfa in the south of the country and in the western city of Aydin.

The operation targeted a grouping linked to the IS that engaged in the shipping of foreign citizens to Syria for further involvement in armed actions.

In the course of searches, the security forces confiscated weaponry, the outfits resembling military uniforms, drugs, and data storage devices.
