47 ceasefire violations reported in Syria in past day — Russian reconciliation center

The biggest number of violations was reported in the province of Aleppo

MOSCOW, October 10. /TASS/. A total of 47 ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups were reported during the day in Syria, including 29 — in the province of Aleppo, 14 — in the province of Damascus, four — in the province of Hama, and three — in the province of Latakia, the Russian Сenter for reconciliation of the warring parties said in its regular daily news bulletin posted on the Russian Defense Ministry’s website on Monday.

"Armed groups which have declared their joining the regime of cessation of hostilities conducted fire from multiple missile launcher systems, tanks, mortars and firearms at the settlement of Azizi (twice), positions of government forces near the Zahr al-Nayrab mount in the province of Aleppo and Aleppo’s district of al-Masharqa. In the province of Latakia, they shelled the settlement of Slenfa," the center said.

In the province of Aleppo, paramilitary terrorist groups shelled from home-made multiple missile launcher systems, artillery systems, mortars and firearms the settlements of Ansar, Shufra, Qarasi, Sabakiya and Al-Hader and Aleppo’s districts of Hai al-Ansari (three times), Ramusi, Bab al-Hadid, Leramon, a Syriatel mobile communications station, and positions of government troops in the 1070 district (twice), the Al-Assad military academy, a cement plant, the Castello trade center, checkpoint No 1 on Castello Road and the settlement of Binyamin (twice).

"In the province of Damascus, terrorist groups shelled the settlements of Bleliye, Bakhariya and Hawsh-Nasri (twice), positions of government forces in the settlements of Jobar (four times) and Hawsh al-Fara, a medical service school in the settlement of Harasta, a farm and the Ibn al-Walid hospital in the settlement of Douma, and a sports ground and a secondary school in the settlement of Jobar," the Russian center said. In the province of Hama, paramilitary terrorist groups shelled the settlements of Maharda, Tarfawi and positions of government troops near the settlements of Skandriya, as follows from the bulletin. "No air strikes were delivered by the Russian air group and the Syrian air force at armed opposition group which have declared cessation of hostilities and informed the Russian or US reconciliation centers about their locations," the Russian reconciliation center said.

Ceasefire agreements

Reconciliation agreements were signed during the day with representatives of six settlements in Syria, including four — in the province of Latakia, one — in the province of Hama, and one — in the province of al-Suwayda, the Russian center added. "The number of settlements joining the reconciliation process has reached 760," the center said.

"Talks on joining the regime of cessation of hostilities were continued with field commanders of armed opposition groups in the settlement of Muaddamyet al-Shih in the province of Damascus and commanders of armed opposition groups in the provinces of Homs, Aleppo and al-Quneitra," document says.

The number of illegal armed groups that declared their commitment to the ceasefire terms remains unchanged — 69, as follows from the bulletin.

Humanitarian situation

Apart from that, according to the Russian center, efforts are continued to relieve the humanitarian situation in Syria. A total of 600 kilograms of bread were distributed among refugees from eastern Aleppo.

Hot meals and living essentials distribution outlets are still open for civilians leaving Aleppo’s neighborhoods controlled by illegal armed groups, the center said.

Russian reconciliation center

The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeymim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
