Ruling party in Armenia nominates Gazprom representative for PM's position

Karen Karapetian is expected to replace Hovik Abrahamyan who tendered resignation earlied on Thursday

EREVAN, September 8. /TASS/. Armenia's ruling Republican Party has nominated the representative of the Russian natural gas producer Gazprom, Karen Karapetian for the post of Prime Minister.

A decision on the nomination was made on Thursday at the sessions of the party's executive board and council.

Karapetian is expected to replace Hovik Abrahamyan who tendered resignation earlied on Thursday.

"The meetings (of the board and the council) voted unanimously to recommend Karen Karapetian for the Prime Minister's post," a member of the Republican Party council and thw chairman of the parliamentary commission for internal relations, Artak Zakarian told reporters.
