BEIJING, August 25. /TASS/ Beijing is providing Syria with medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, and assisting in training medical staff, China’s Ministry of Defense spokesman Wu Qian said on Thursday.
"China has always played an active role in the political settlement of the Syrian crisis", he noted. "According to the agreement between the two countries’ military forces, China is providing Syria with medical equipment and pharmaceuticals as humanitarian aid", Wu Qian explained.
He also said that Beijing was assisting Syria in training healthcare personnel, including nurses.
On August 14, the Director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of China's Central Military Commission Guan Youfei met Syrian Minister of Defense Fahd Jassem al-Freij in Damascus. According to Chinese Ministry of Defense, the parties came to an understanding on the matters concerning Beijing’s military assistance in training experts and providing humanitarian aid.
